Kendo, the "way of the sword," is a martial art embodying the time-honored principles of Japanese sword combat. For centuries, the Samurai class in Japan developed the techniques of Kenjutsu, the "way of swordsmanship," which over the past 200 years has evolved into the more refined art of Kendo. Practitioners of Kendo value its promotion of physical stamina, mental acuity, vigorous spirit, and courtesy towards others.
High Sierra Jujitsu teaches Kendo using the traditional bamboo sword (shinai) and practice armor (bogu). Striking techniques, traditional kata, and sparring practice are all presented by a highly qualified instructor. High Sierra Jujitsu is proud to make the elegant, time-honored practice of Kendo available to martial artists.
